Day 8

May 19th, 2023 


Today is my moms birthday! And I'm cooking the whole day. I started the day cooking and collecting the rhubarb for her birthday dessert. I had made a rhubarb crisp for her. For dinner, I made six racks of ribs three were my aunts ferocious barbecue sauce. For the other three I made an asian sticky sauce. Which actually was the hit of the whole dinner.  We also made another simple salad with a shallots dressing. I was so tried after this day because I had to based the ribs every 45 mins.

 End of Week #1  During the week I have realized how much I really do love cooking.  I have been cooking a lot and I have now finally realized how weird I am. But this week has been so amazing. I have gotten to spend time with my father who taught me who to bake and make some of the best desserts ever.  I also have been spending a lot of time with my mentor who is also my grandmother, and the person I look up to when it comes to cooking. They both have taught me things and given me very good tips and tricks.  I have been having a hard time accomplishing the plating of food because of the food I have been cooking has not always been easy to but on a plate. Wednesday Russian:  Day 3  I stared cooking to day by making flaky pastry dough for my Russian kubiaka. After that, I made the birds milk cake which is a very sweet Russian dessert. It need many hours to set so I had it early this morning. I prepared all my ingredients for the dinner. And went on a run while I waited for the afternoon to arrive. I had a hard time trying to find an alternative for cool-whip, because I think in translations it americanized the recipe. With tonights dinner I made a Scandinavian cabbage.  I started to assemble the kubiaka I had to have help because there are many layers. Weekly Refection #2

Sunday  May 21, 2023 Total Hours 80 hours  I am finally done, I took a few days off this week to relax because last week I worked strait for the whole week. I was very happy to be able to take a short break before picking back up on the cooking. I did not think I was going to finish my whole project but I did. And it was so worth all the long hours and burns on my hands. I got many battle scares. I have really loved being on senior project.  I did not have much going this week because last week I got almost all my hours in the first week. So I was able to take a little break and relax which was very needed because of last week. I had a hard time following along with my set plan. But I was able to cook food that I have always wanted to make.  I really worked on my goals of getting better at knife skills, chopping fruit, vegetables small, and even.
